

Owl’s Leap is a wonderfully full-bodied dry red wine that expresses the spiciness of Chambourcin grapes. Reminiscent of a spicy Shiraz, Chambourcin has a black pepper aroma and flavors with anise and clove. There are also hints of plum, black cherry and in exceptional years a bright jammy fruitiness.
Owl’s Leap is a blend of the Shawnee Hills region’s finest red grape varieties – Chambourcin (90%) and Norton (10%). All of our grapes are locally grown and our Owl’s Leap is aged for 12 months in medium-toasted American oak barrels to attain a rich mellow flavor.

Owl’s Leap Reserve is a big full-bodied dry red wine that expresses the spiciness of Chambourcin grapes and the rich mellow smoothness that two years of aging in oak barrels can bring. Blended with Norton to add depth, Chambourcin has a black pepper aroma and flavors with anise and clove. All that time spent lounging in American oak barrels brings out caramel notes similar to a fine aged port.
Owl’s Leap Reserve is a blend of the Shawnee Hills region’s finest red grape varieties – Chambourcin (66%) and Norton (34%). The grapes for our Owl’s Leap Reserve are from our oldest vines and are allowed to mature well into October each fall.

Bald Knob is a very fruity semi dry red wine made from Chambourcin grapes. Finished in a manner similar to a young Beaujolais, Bald Knob is a dry red wine drinker’s summer wine. It’s light fruity and fun, ideal for a backyard cookout with friends or that occasional serious BBQ that cries out for right light wine that’s big enough to not get lost on your palate.
Named for the highest point in Southern Illinois and on Owl Creek founder’s head, Bald Knob is a fun nod to the great terroir that makes Shawnee Hills Chambourcin possible and the decades of toil Ted Wichmann dedicated to making great Shawnee Hills wines.

Ruby Red Concord is big fruity red sweet wine made from Concord grapes. Ruby boasts the best of the foxy character of the leading native grape in grown in America. Newer wine drinkers will welcome the fresh grape jelly character of Ruby’s concord grapes.
