2003 Owl's Leap
Owl's Leap is a wonderfully full-bodied dry red wine that expresses the spiciness of Chambourcin grapes. Reminiscent of a spicy Shiraz, Chambourcin has a black pepper aroma and flavors with anise and clove. There are also hints of plum, black cherry and in exceptional years a bright jammy fruitiness.
Owl's Leap is a blend of the Shawnee Hills region's finest red grape varieties – Chambourcin (90%) and Norton (10%). All of our grapes are locally grown and our Owl's Leap is aged for 12 months in medium-toasted American oak barrels to attain a rich mellow flavor.
