2003 Owl's Leap Reserve
Owl's Leap Reserve is a big full-bodied dry red wine that expresses the spiciness of Chambourcin grapes and the rich mellow smoothness that two years of aging in oak barrels can bring. Blended with Norton to add depth, Chambourcin has a black pepper aroma and flavors with anise and clove. All that time spent lounging in American oak barrels brings out caramel notes similar to a fine aged port.
Owl's Leap Reserve is a blend of the Shawnee Hills region's finest red grape varieties – Chambourcin (66%) and Norton (34%). The grapes for our Owl's Leap Reserve are from our oldest vines and are allowed to mature well into October each fall.
